“How can I expect to know God if I don’t know His Word?” I’ve asked myself this question many times. I’ve gone through periods of my life where I’ve questioned where God was and wondered why He was so silent in my life, all the while my Bible sat two feet away from me gathering dust.
God gave us His Word for our benefit. It helps us learn His character and hear His voice. His Word directs and guides us. It is relevant and important and life-giving. It’s actually very difficult for me to put into words exactly how imperative studying the Bible was and is to my spiritual growth. My relationship with Jesus wasn’t flourishing until I committed to spend time actively seeking Him, and a huge part of that commitment was spending time studying the Word.
