Bye Bye Insecurity

“Forgive me for turning too many things into competitions. For being so fixated on what I don’t have that I leave the gifts You’ve given me underdeveloped and much less effective than You intended them to be. Forgive me for thinking pitifully little of the person You’ve made me. Forgive me for committing the flagrant sin of despising myself and considering myself inferior to others. Forgive me equally for every time I sighed with relief at the thought that I might be superior after all. Forgive me for my unbelief. If I realized how valuable I am, my insatiable need for affirmation would be quieted. Forgive me for being such a perfectionist that I resist doing something good out of fear that I won’t be great.” ― Beth Moore, So Long, Insecurity: You’ve Been a Bad Friend to Us

Could this be your prayer?

Our insecurities consist of comparing ourselves, competing against, and condemning others. These three paths can lead to destructive behavior. When our insecurities are showing our conversations are filled with criticism and jealousy, our actions can be narcissistic like and driven by our fears and “those people” in our heads. “Those people” in our head, inner damaging voices, ever notice they tend to be on repeat and the volume knob on ten? That is so frustrating.  “No, it isn’t.” “Yes, it is.” See what I mean.

Our insecurities affect our parenting, relationships, career, and can manifest in many unhealthy ways. The struggle is real!

How do we overcome our insecurities? First, understand, or I should say, embrace that Jesus did go to the cross to give us abundant life, and the security that brings peace, which can only be found in Him. And isn’t that what we need and want? Who doesn’t want to be valued, wanted, respected, and loved?

The peace which transcends all understanding is God’s peace. The security that transcends all understanding is God’s security. The love that transcends all understanding is God’s love. The value that transcends.…..you get the idea.

To launch you into letting God’s Word transform you and empower you to live fully, filled with His security of love, and value, read the following verse’s, inserting your name in the blank.

________is Loved.

_____, believing in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved______, that He gave his one and only Son, that _______, believing in Him, should not perish, but have eternal life.  John 3:15-16

_______is Valuable.

For ________ is His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that _______ should walk in them.  Ephesians 2:10

________is Victorious.

If ________remains in My word, then she is truly My disciple.  _______will know the truth, and the truth will make her free. John 8:31-32
