A Message of Hope

A Message of Hope

As we say goodbye to another year, it appears the pandemic will still be our partner in 2022. For many, hope was starting to come in to focus, only to have the headlines steal them away, yet again.  It is exhausting hanging on to a thread of hope, yet If you believe God is omnipotent, then why does our hope meter fluctuate so much?

As Paul David Tripp says, “Our problem is with the limits of our faith, not with God’s power.” “You are never in a situation that is bigger than the extent of God’s power, and there is never a moment when his power for you and within you is inactive.”

How is our hope regained? Let’s look at the declaration King David made in Psalm 16:8. “I will not be shaken.”  David made a habit of thinking about God’s Word and His commands, His way of living.  The beginning of that verse is, “I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” David continues in verse 11, “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In your right hand there are pleasures forever.”

When we make God our focus, it is easier to hear Him when He speaks.  We gain insights and wisdom we can use to make decisions in line with God’s Will.  Making good decisions is essential to our faith. But what drains our hope is our tendency to get caught up and be controlled by the issues in the world that are far beyond our power, authority, and control. Instead of looking at our responsibilities, and difficulties through the lens of media, let’s view every aspect of our lives through the hope-filled lens of the power of God.  God is Sovereign, completely aware of all that is happening in our world.

Make this next year a year you will not be shaken! Make God’s Word a priority! It makes a difference! It brings life! It brings hope! Good intentions don’t transform you. When you set the Lord continually before you, watch your hope, joy, strength, and peace go up! And who doesn’t need these?

I am praying for 2022, for you to seek God first in all you do. So that when the trials come personally to you or the weight of the world seems to be at your door, you will not be shaken! Because God has assured His presence with you and in you. His power has given you everything you need for life. You will be able to rest in His promises and hope. Do you know His promises? I pray each of you will have such a thirst for God’s Word that you exchange some leisure time for transformation time.
