July is Freedom Month. I just declared it, (smile). We will talk about the freedom we have in the Cross, in His Word, in His Grace and Mercy.
There is a prayer by A.W. Tozer that expresses a desire to know more of God, which leads to freedom. I greatly encourage you to pray it slow and aloud and spend some time on the questions below.
“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirst for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.”
-What is your “misty lowland?”
-What have you been shackled to for so long that your ability to recognize freedom is skewed?
Lord, let Your voice be louder than mine, and grant me the courage to obey and rise up to live in Your freedom, and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Psalm 119:32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.
