The Bible Is Fun!

Bible study is Fun. Don’t get me wrong, the Scriptures are Holy, they are God’s living Word, and a way He communicates to us. His Word is life, peace, comfort, everything we need!

God also has a sense of humor. God created laughter, and laughter is good for the soul. Now, I’m not saying all the following verses are taken in full context, but I think you will get the point.

For example:

I’m thinking God isn’t a morning person, because Proverbs 27:14- A loud and cheerful greeting early in the morning will be taken as a curse!  (We all need our coffee first)

Numbers 22:28-30– Then the Lord gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam. “You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!” “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?”  “No,” Balaam admitted.

Is it just me– but wouldn’t your first words be – “Hey, a talking donkey.”

Isaiah 8:3-4 “And the Lord said to me, “Name him Mahershalalhashbaz. Before the boy knows how to say, ‘My father,’ or ‘My mother,’ the wealth of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried off by the king of Assyria.   (No kidding, everything will be carried off before he can even pronounce his own name)

God didn’t give Noah’s wife a name in the Bible.  I guess He knew we would know it was Joan of Ark.   : )

The seventh commandment is thou shalt not commit adultery, yet Solomon had 300 wives.  Hmmm.

I will leave you with this: The Proverbs 31 woman has always been a thorn in my side.  She is worth far more than rubies, her husband adores her, she cooks, she cleans, she sews, she runs a business, she serves the poor, she is clothed in strength and dignity, blah, blah, blah.   Enough already. I’m just saying, where is this wonder woman? If she is so special, why doesn’t she have a name? She isn’t mentioned in Proverbs 32 either. So there!
