Focused and Unified

I am not a true hockey fan, but when “our” team was in the playoffs two weeks ago, I was watching. Watching an NHL playoff game is exciting, as both teams are determined to win. Six men on each team take the ice, and except for the goalie, each team rotates in and out players about every 60 seconds. The reason is because of the amount of energy exerted and the physicality of the game, not to mention the 15-plus pounds of equipment required to wear for protection. The rotation allows the players to rest and the team to always have “fresh legs” on the ice.

Teamwork is a constant balancing act between self-interest and group interest, but a team can accomplish more together than an individual. An effective and impactful team should be a group of people infected by the virus of vision and unified and motivated by that vision. Or in other words;

 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.” Philippians 1:27-28

These words from the Apostle Paul are a reminder to be focused and unified—teamwork. God noted how powerful a group of people could be when focused and unified (Genesis 11). Our enemy wants nothing more than to get God’s people divided. He wants division and dissension because he knows that once we unite, we can gain momentum and growth for the Kingdom.

The book of Acts is a focused and unified message, operating with one mind devoted to prayer and each other’s needs. The Choose to Soar Team is an excellent illustration of Paul’s letter. We all desire to honor Christ and do His will. We know we must stand firm in one spirit and cannot stand alone.

The incredible women who serve on the CTS team are the most encouraging, strengthening, and praying women you will ever meet. Watching them in action is a tremendous blessing to me. I am incredibly grateful to walk alongside each of them as we serve. Will you join me in praying for this team of incredible women;

Lord, I am so thankful for the women you have put in my path. These women so willingly serve You, desire to love You well and be all You intended them to be. They sacrifice so much for the ministry. Thank you, Father, for their friendship, leadership, and grace. To the team;

Terri Branch, Sammi Whitwell, Andrea Grammar, Crystal Shultz, Beth Gwin, Lynne Freauf, Lindy Fox, Sally Jones, Orion Clements, Melanie Stocks, Kim Shoemaker, Annie Shields, Cindy Smith, Taylor Williams. Pare Underwood, Haley Crespo, Teresa Kramer, Jess Van Brunt

 May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
