You’ve Got a Friend…

You’ve Got a Friend…

“When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand,

And nothing, whoa, nothing is going right..”

Ever felt like that was your life’s song? It’s easy to feel like “nothing” is going right when really only a few things are off the rail. It’s our “all or nothing” thinking. The enemy loves it, especially when he sees us faltering or weary.

“Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there

To brighten up even the darkest night.”

Do you have a close friend like that? Who will drop everything else to be with you?

Relationships take time and work. They are risky, and often they don’t hold up to life.

Ever ask God for a dear friend that is unconditional? I have, in my 30s. His answer was, “NO!”  But then, ” Make me your best friend first. Pour time into our relationship. Cry out to me. Share your heart and your secrets with me. I will never betray you, or gossip, or find someone new. I have always loved you unconditionally. You can trust me.”

“You just call out my name, and you know wherever I am

I’ll come running to see you again. ”

God is waiting for us to make him our BFF. He alone is worthy of that title. People fail, hurt you and desert you. They will take your soul if you let them. The sky above will grow dark and fill with clouds. The north winds will begin to blow.

Call out to the Lord, and He will be there. Yes, you’ve got a friend. Ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend. Oh yeah now, you’ve got a friend.

“Holy Father, I haven’t trusted You in the past to be all that You promise that You are to me. Yes, you are Holy, but You are personal, loving, and good. I have searched in all the world’s places for what I can find only in You. A True Friend. You have been waiting all my life for me to turn to You, in good times and in bad. Forgive me for turning to everyone but You. I am turning to You now. I need You, I need a Friend. I want to live close to You, my Truest Friend. In Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen”
