The Voice

In the world today, there is much disagreement. But I believe most people would agree that the year 2020 has been the most difficult year to manage than ever before. This Thanksgiving, I imagine some people are going to have great difficulty being thankful for anything.  Some of you have endured tragic circumstances and are counting it victory just getting up out of bed for the day.  

During all this “Stupid Covid” ( my official term),  it appears to me many voices are competing for our attention.  Between our voice, media of all kinds, and other people’s opinions, a Word from the Lord is hard to hear. And be honest, is His voice-The Voice- even in the mix?

Until we spend time with the Lord daily, we will not know the difference between His voice or another’s. However, He knows ours!  Talk about thankful! I am grateful for the many ways we can hear His voice by reading His Word, and because Jesus is personal, we can sense His divine embrace,  especially when we are in the valleys of despair.

I know some are having a hard time believing God is with you in your pain, but He is. However, maybe you don’t recognize Him. Wading through the unwanted advice and unhealthy influence to get to God is exhausting. But Jesus doesn’t hide behind anything. He wants us to see Him, so we can walk through the valleys together, celebrate together, collaborate in our “purposes” together.  

This coming Holiday season, as we give thanks, let’s commit to spending time with the Lord, our Shepherd, so we hear His voice above all. 

Lord, how grateful we are for Jesus! We are thankful You have given us Your Word in many formats that we can know Your Voice even with our busy lives.  Grant us a thirst for You and Your Word and help us commit to following Your leading.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Psalm 34:17-18

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
