Seated = Surrendered by Taylor Williams

Seated = Surrendered

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-6

Seated is the same nature as being still. Being still allows us to reach a place of surrender. When we “sit down” inwardly before the Lord we are allowing Him to lead. This act puts our heart in a position of surrender. I have experienced this “act of surrender” over the last few months. I had to learn what it means to be seated. My husband and I were going through something that could radically change our life for the next year. Quickly in the process I learned that when I try to take charge, anxiety and destruction followed. When I simply sat down with the Lord and released my grip I then received peace. God did what only HE could do. He parted the sea and did immeasurably more along the way.

We can easily surrender something on Sunday and take it back up on Monday. We all have something that we tighten our grip on whether it is our dreams, our marriage, our kids, our health, our finances etc.

I’m realizing by Gods words and actions our rightful place is to be seated with Him and to be still. He is your defender not your foe, surrender all and know that He is God.

As Hannah Whitall smith so graciously puts it:

“You may not see or feel the inner workings of His silent power, but rest assured it is always mightily at work. And it will work for you, if you will only quiet your spirit enough to be carried along by the current of its power.”

Lord, thank you for giving us a seat at the table. Help us release our concerns to you daily and allow you to take full control in Jesus name. You’re such a good Father and we trust in you. Help us to be still.

In Jesus Name.

Amen

Below is a great song to listen to after your time with the Lord to remember He is your defender and all you must do is be still.
