Reliable Power

Whose power am I relying on?

See if you relate to any of the following statements:

  • I feel like I can never do or be enough.
  • I am so busy that I don’t have time to read the Bible or pray.
  • I am constantly worrying about what others think about me and my work.

If you resonate (like I do) with any of those statements, then this might be an indication that you are over-relying on your own abilities and not relying fully on God’s power to work through you.

Ultimately, relying on God’s power means you know Christ and consider Him as your sole source of identity and purpose. Stop trying to earn your identity through your own power. Through faith in Christ (who, by God’s power, died for you), it’s been handed over to you freely! Live as a daughter of the King. It’s God’s strength that gets you through the day and gives you success by His definition.

Read Paul’s words to the Philippian church as a reminder that God’s power is found through knowing Christ! This is more valuable than anything we do of our own accord.

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! —Philippians 3:7-11 NLT
