In Mark 5, the woman who needed healing was willing to seek Him. Although she could have faced extreme humility, rejection, and even death, she was ready. She believed wholeheartedly that if she could only touch the hem of Christ’s garment, healing would come to her. This woman knew that the words of Jesus meant life, but she did something we only talk about doing. This nameless woman reached for those words of life. But the key was what she did next. In her bankrupt, isolated, and weakened state from over 12 years of continual blood loss, she not only reached for Jesus, but she also received and responded to His words.
Why do we have a hard time receiving what the Lord freely gives? He gives us grace, mercy, and life-giving words, yet we won’t open our hands or hearts to receive it. Friends, words spoken by Jesus offer the significance we are searching for. His words provide us new dreams, new plans, and new attitudes to start again. God isn’t hiding from us. He wants us to “seek” Him with open hands. In other words, don’t pray unless you are willing to obey.
Lord, thank You for hearing our cries and delivering us from all our fears. Lord, help us seek You in ALL things. As You call us by name, grant us the strength to let go and receive Your guidance, Your healing, and Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In Mark 5:34 NIV “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.'” (Greek: go into peace and move out of restlessness)
In Matthew 6:33 NCV, “Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well.”
In Proverbs 8:17 NCV, “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.”
