Peace

What is peace?

What is peace?

Have you ever felt like a thick, suffocating blanket is covering your heart? I recently had a rollercoaster ride with my emotions in a matter of 15 minutes that allowed this heaviness to be upon my heart. What was funny was I had just got done talking with someone about peace. Sitting at the well and soaking in God’s Word and letting Him fill you with His calmness, His freedom of strife. It wasn’t but a few minutes later after receiving some news that instantly my heart beat faster and tears came rolling down.

I have scriptures, mottos, etc. plastered all over my office walls, but it was a calendar hanging on the wall that brought me peace. As I looked across the room, there in big letters was the heading for December; For unto us A CHILD is born, Isaiah 9:6. Immediately God brought to mind Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Jesus, who said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

By focusing on the Lord’s promises, the blanket lifted from my heart, the tears dried up, and as it says in proverbs, a heart at peace gives life to the body.

So what is peace? Peace is knowing God and His promises. Peace is trusting Him and knowing He is a good God all the time. Let the invisible strength of the Scriptures soak into every fiber of you and watch and see how His Perfect Peace soothes the soul.
