Only You

Only You

Ever heard the expression, “It’s been a day”? A journal opening line I had written was, “Lord, it has been a day! So many prayers, so many in crisis, my heart is heavy.”  I continued my conversation with the Lord and prayed for those who had asked for prayer and for those who God laid on my heart to lift up to Him.  But I got to be honest; I had a hard time coming up with words to match what my heart felt.  I didn’t have what I thought were the right words to pray effectively. So, I sat there, pen in hand, with my journal.  The Lord led me to recall Colossians 3:1-2, Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

It was from there that my pen had a mind of its own, and the following was written:

Lord, let my heart be constantly focused on you, setting my thoughts on things above, not the things of this world. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Father, forgive my lack of obedience and how my desire for You gets clouded by my temporal earthly desires.

Lord, God of Heaven,

It is Only You who can satisfy my every need.

It is Only You who loves me to a depth unreachable by any human.

It is Only You who forgives, fully.

It is Only You who would have your Son, Jesus, die on my behalf, for I can have eternal life.

It is Only You who gives abundantly in grace and mercy.

Lord, God of Heaven,

Let it be Only You; I put on the Throne

Let it be Only You and Your Word that is my filter in life.

May my life song sing and be pleasing to Only You Lord.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Friends, sometimes reading the Scriptures and asking the Holy Spirit to lead your thoughts as you write them down, can bring such healing.  I encourage you to sit and be still before Him. Use His Words to launch you into His presence. God so desires you to be with Him.
