Oh! My Goodness…

Such a common phrase that we all say to exclaim when great things happen, and sometimes not-so-great things happen. I find it is something I say quite often, and just about always without really thinking about what I am saying.

In myself, there is no goodness. If I had to depend on my goodness to ascertain anything, I would be in trouble! Gratefully, the goodness of God covers me.

Because of the redemption of my life when I chose Jesus as Lord, the Spirit fills me. And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control. When I live close to Jesus, He lives close to me. He fills me to overflow! How grateful I am for that promise.

Right now, the world is at a crossroads. We have choices, for goodness or selfishness. If Jesus is your Savior, choosing goodness is not really a choice. We reach out to others in need because we are filled with his goodness. We aren’t overcome with fear, because the perfect love of Christ casts out fear. “I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Ps. 27:13 Amen! Now is the time to share that goodness with others, in the name of Jesus.

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Ps. 23:6  A beautiful promise!

In the uncertainty of this life, we can trust the One who is in control. Nothing catches God off guard. “……this is my doing.” 1 Kings 12:24
