If you’ve been around Choose to Soar long enough, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “Let God love you,” before. You may even own the t-shirt! If you’re anything like me, sometimes when you hear these little “chicky-chicks” as Tanya says (or as I like to call them chicken nuggies), you may ask yourself what that even means! What does it look like to let God love you? The word ‘let’ connotes permission. So, we have to give the God of the universe permission to love us??? In essence, yes!
There can be a myriad of reasons why we don’t. You may have been hurt. You may not feel lovable. You may have a wrong definition of love. You may not like the way God is loving you right now! The list can keep going! Whatever the reason, God is love, and He can’t be anything less than who He is. The next question is how. How do I do that?
I am learning that everything hangs in the balance of the one word: SURRENDER. Cease resisting. Stop running. Relinquish control. Trust. Let God rewrite your definition of love! It is so much better than you can imagine!!! How God loves us looks different for each of us. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! The cool part is the God of the universe is intimately aware of you! He knit you together in your mother’s womb! He knows your love language.
I echo Paul’s words in Ephesians 3:18-19. May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
What are you waiting for?!?
