God is a great multitasker. He is everywhere all the time and knows everything. He knows us better than we know ourselves and will provide everything we need when we need it. He doesn’t send us out on our own.
Just like Moses did in Exodus 4, we sometimes feel inadequate to carry out God’s wishes and therefore make excuses. We see our deficits.
For example, “I have never been eloquent; I am slow of speech and tongue.”
What is God’s response? “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
God told Moses to put words in Aaron’s mouth, and He will help both of them speak. God said that Aaron would speak to the people, for Moses, and it will be as if Aaron were Moses’ mouth. How beautiful and tender is that of God to consider Moses’ fears or insecurities! God could have told Moses to do it “because I said so!” But instead, He comforts Moses. While God may not speak that directly to us, we have an advantage that Moses didn’t have. We are equipped with the Holy Spirit inside us.
God doesn’t just prepare us; He also prepares good works for us. We are God’s masterpiece. No matter how we may see ourselves, He has created us anew in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10). Just like there is one body but many parts to one body (1 Corinthians 12:14), there is one goal, which is to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). God has uniquely created each of us to carry out what He has prepared for us. May we trust God’s sovereignty that He will provide everything we need to do the good works He designed us for.
