It’s a Hard Knock Life

It’s a Hard Knock Life………

The little orphan girls in ” Annie” would sing:

“Empty belly life, rotten smelly life,

Full of sorrow life, no tomorrow life,”

as they danced and, somewhat, did their chores. A cute movie that turns out well for Annie and her friends.

Ever feel like singing that song, minus the choreography?

“Don’t it feel like the wind is always howl’n?

Don’t it feel like there’s never any light?

Once a day, don’t you wanna throw the towel in?

It’s easier than puttin’ up a fight?”

Does any of that resonate with you? Unmet expectations, suffering, sorrow. It truly can be a hard knock life for so many people these days. It’s enough to want to throw more than a towel!

So what can be done? Is anyone there to help? Being as most of us are in the same boat of stress and strife, looking around to the people nearby may offer little assurance of real change.

We can, however, look for the Light, the Light that Jesus offers. Jesus has already fought the fight and has won. If you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He will continue to fight for you. Yes, we all have skirmishes, but the battle is His. 2 Chronicles 20:15 tells us, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” God’s Word tells us repeatedly to fear not, for God is with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us.

In this season of Christmas, may you seek the One who gave up the beauty of Heaven, to live as we live, suffer as we suffer, yet live a sinless life. And He did it all for you. He alone, can bring lasting joy and change the song of your heart. Wise men, and women, still seek Him!

CTS wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and joyous New Year!
