Encounter

Encounter

By Lynne Freauf

Throughout the Gospel of John, there are many encounters that Jesus had with people. The first public miracle was the encounter with the servants of a wedding banquet when Jesus turned the water into wine and saved the party. Through that encounter, His disciples put their faith in Him. One afternoon, a Samaritan woman met Jesus at a well, and the encounter changed her forever.  Momentary yet significant encounters with Jesus resulted in the healing of an official’s son, a blind man, a lame man, and an adulterous woman. Many were changed when He touched even one.

The stories in the Bible reveal Christ’s desire for an encounter. In the book of Mark, is an astonishing story of a woman with an issue of constant bleeding for twelve years. This woman was healed when she reached out in faith to touch the hem of Christ’s garment.

We can encounter Jesus in much the same way. How long has it been since you intentionally reached out to Jesus? He longs for an encounter with you and me.

Heavenly Father, you know the healing that I seek. You know my broken places.  I want to be made whole. I long for that encounter with You. In the powerful Name of Jesus. Amen

“Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your suffering.” Mark 5:34
