Desperate For …….

Over the last 13 months, the pandemic has modified our desires. It does not matter who you are, where you live, or what you do; this pandemic has changed us.  Our “needs” changed, our “wants” changed, and we seem to have hit new levels of anxiousness. Our fears appeared to be more substantial, and the way we do life has changed drastically.

Change must happen!  But who wants to change? And even though our “needs” are pulling rank over our “wants,” we become desperate and believe if we just get what we want, our desires will be satisfied, our needs met, which in turn, we think will make our lives better, happier, and not so conflicting. We became desperate for community, normalcy, asking for mercy in the madness. 

Is getting desperate a good place to be or a bad situation?

Are you able to acknowledge your true poverty of need and desperation for help? Or are you desperate because of your lusts and false reality of life? 

The answer is Yes! We all reach elevated levels of despair. You are welcome!

But at what point does it take for us to get desperate for Jesus? Do we have to get to a life-or-death situation before we TOTALLY SURRENDER and ask God for help? And looking at our world now, why are we not desperate for Jesus every day???

God’s Word tell us the Lord wants us first to be content in all situations. Whether or not we are in need, living in plenty, or desperate for encouragement, contentment brings a calmness to the chaos. 

My experience has been when I reach a place of contentment; it is because my trust in God has increased.  Then, and only then, will the Lord move me or change the circumstance.  He wants us to be desperate for Him and content with His way.  

Mighty Father, Prince of Peace, 

Empower us and our desires for pleasure, joy, and fulfillment, to draw us to the only solution that gives, redeems, and restores. May our hearts and minds be set on You. May we remain desperate for Jesus daily.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Philippians 4:11-12, 19

 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
