Could you use a fresh start with God?

Could you use a fresh start with God? Do you feel like your life is an unfinished puzzle? David, the Psalmist, knew what this felt like when he wrote, “Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be-you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean” (Psalm 32:1 MSG).  In other words, God holds the eraser and the blueprint for where all the pieces go as He puts us back together.  However, He wants us to surrender all the pieces of our life.

Remember the hymn, “I Surrender All?” Personally, I wish the hymn was “I surrender some,” because I can do that.  But surrender “all”?

When surrender “all”, God’s equation looks like this:

The Surrendered Life = The Significant Life.

This doesn’t mean more rules to follow, it means choosing the surrendered life as opposed to a self- centered life.

When God is at the center of our lives, given full access, He can begin His work of restoring our broken lives. This leads to living a purpose-driven life.  God desires to show us our unique purpose on this earth to fulfill.  Some of the blessings are:

Peace of mind— A new perspective for daily living—The power to persevere

Who doesn’t want these blessings! If you are experiencing frustration of mind, maybe a heart worn out and weary, or making decisions based on a life lived in fear, these can be symptoms of a self-centered life.  Now don’t beat yourself up, we are by nature, self-centered humans.  Just ask Eve.  But thankfully, because of Jesus, we have a choice. A choice to live an abundant, meaningful life, or not.

Which will you choose? Surrender all or Surrender some?

I am going to pray to “surrender all” daily, actually, to be honest, I need to pray to “surrender all” about every 15 minutes! Will you join me and make this your daily prayer as well

There are those who have a life they never live. They have come to Christ and thanked Him only for what He did, but do not live in the power of who He is.        Major W. Ian Thomas
