Are You a Sign Pointer?

Are you a Sign Pointer?

Well first, let me ask if you are a follower of Jesus? If you are, then you are a Sign Pointer, aka Disciple maker.

As followers of Jesus, we are to worship Him only, serve others in His name, and point others to Him.

Jesus was the greatest Disciple maker of all time.  Jesus discipled others by mentoring, coaching, and shepherding them.  And yes, there is a difference between them all. Few people realize the benefits of each method.  I penned this as “MCD Method.” Clever, right?  Mentoring, Coaching, and Discipling.  It sounds like a lot- but when you are in a mentoring type of relationship, you use a little of each of these methods, or at least you should.  Jesus’ method of making disciples is brilliant.  He combined intense relationship with intentional training. All designed to transform the person, not to make them a smarter sinner. His method created disciples who created other disciples, and so on.

The Bible clearly commands in Matthew 28:19-20; Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.

These scriptures might automatically bring a vision to your mind of you going to Africa, being in the jungle, witnessing to natives who have not eaten in days. Rest easy. I am here to help you with that thought.  LOL.

Seriously though, we are to invest in others, as well as we need for other people to intentionally invest in us.  Jesus wants us to help each other grow to be like Him.  “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17. Who are you investing in? Who is investing in you? These are two questions you should be able to answer.

To be a MCD (Sign Pointer), we are to remain in Him.

John 15:4, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain on the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

According to Dr. John Piper, “remaining” (abiding) is really the act of receiving and trusting all that God has and is for you in Christ.  And you can’t really learn to “remain.” A person has to “remain” and then learns what happens as a result of “remaining.”  At Choose to Soar we help get you in a posture, “remain” to receive what God has for you. February 24th-26th, is our Encounter Weekend titled- Mentor and Coach like Jesus. With our extensive mentoring experience, training as Leadership/Purpose coach, and students who are thirsty for God’s Word, we are excited to intentionally equip and empower you to be the best “Sign Pointer” ever!
